Sweet Dreams

I had been studying for my GCSEs for quite some time. I have been thinking of ways to grasp them final grades I aim for at the end of this summer. Stressing about exams can cause sleeping to be more challenging. It wasn't until I started researching some new mattresses that I realized that this would be the perfect for me during the exam period. It would help me to relax for the upcoming GCSEs, and it will give me a great night's sleep during the rest of my time in school.

When I mentioned to my parents that I wanted a new mattress my mum thought it was a great idea because it would help with school and overall health. They told me to really put some time into the decision, because this purchase should last until I am in my early twenties. When they gave me the green light, I decided to go on a quest to find the best mattress!

I hit the internet and started looking for my new mattress, and instantly I realized this was going to be more challenging than I had first anticipated. Not only were there a huge amount of websites selling mattresses, there were quite a variety to choose from. So my first course of action was to find a firm sprung mattress, something that would support me but not too firm to the point that it was causing me pain in my joints and muscles. I like a firm mattress, but I also love the pillow top style mattresses that you sleep on when you travel abroad and stay in a hotel. Luckily I was able to narrow down my search quite easily.

I decided against the memory foam and gel mattress, I did not like the feeling of being cradled in place all night - I am slightly claustrophobic. I prefer the mattress be firm, but soft on top to allow me to fall off easily into sleep. I liked the way the sprung mattress feels, and I liked that I could choose the thickness of the surface material too. So with my mattress type decided, now all I had to do was to find a local supplier who could deliver my new mattress and take away my older one. I did a local search for a mattress company with a flexible delivery schedule, and within seconds I found a great website called www.cutpricemattresses.co.uk

I was able to quickly scan their inventory for a new mattress, and was able to confirm that they could get the mattress to our house and also take away the old one. My mum took care of the rest, and I had my mattress two days later. I was able to rest comfortable each night, and when i needed to relax for the day, I could lay down and just focus on passing my GCSEs. This was the best investment ever, and my parents were more than happy with the results all the way around. Now I can have sweet dreams and hopefully sweet GCSE grades - fingers crossed!

Dealing with Exam Stress

Revision...exams...deadlines...coursework...controlled assessments...HELP!
These haunting words seem to be swirling around my head on repeat! I am currently in Year 11 and therefore I will be taking my examinations this summer. This is now the crucial revision period on the lead up to the daunting days ahead. Along with exams comes stress. Stress can cause you to become less productive, tired, distracted and irritable. I am going to teach you tips and tricks in order for to succeed in your exams; or ways to stay relaxed in general.

Eat a balanced diet.
Avoid fatty, sugary foods ,such as cereal, chocolate or sweets, and try to eat more foods such as eggs, salmon and pasta. These foods all have slow energy release to ensure you don’t get tired and unfocused.

Sweet dreams.
Cramming is a no go! The best way to set yourself up for the exams is to have plenty of sleep in order to recharge your body for what the day holds. Why not purchase a brand new mattress to make your dreams even sweeter?

Keep fit.
Regular exercise can help to relieve stress and can take your mind off the stressful revision. It also ensures that you stay fit and healthy!

Find your perfect workplace.
Do you work best in your bedroom on your own? Do you like working at your desk? Would you prefer to revise outside? (Even though at the moment the weather isn’t being the kindest) Try to find the best place for you to stay calm and focused.

‘Drink to Think.’
Stay hydrated during the exam period, and during the lead up. Plenty of water and herbal teas will ensure you stay soothed and calm, while hydrating your cells to keep your brain ticking. Stay away from cups of coffee and fizzy drinks!

Relaxing music.
You may love to rave to your club classics playlist, or rock to your heavy metal tunes, but try to listen to soothing relaxation or meditation music while you revise or during your day-to-day life, to calm you down and to escape for the chaos of exams.

Smile!
Imagine yourself opening your ideal grades at the end of the exam period, and believe that you can do it. A positive mind opens you up to be more productive. Laughing helps to de-stress as well and releases any worries or concerns you may have.

Be friends with plants.
Having an indoor plant can clear the air you breathe in, and can consequently de-stress you.

Playful pets.
Like to cuddle with your snake, or stroke your cat? The physical contact we have with animals reduces blood pressure and therefore calms us down.

Be at one with nature.
A walk outside , through fields, parks or woodland, can send your body a soothing message due to the therapeutic environment.

Have a soak.
Soaking in a hot bath can de-stress you completely, and can be a technique for relaxation. Why not try adding essential oils to the water, to give you a sense of even more calmness?

I hope these techniques will help you to relax and stay positive!

16th Birthday Celebrations

Last Friday a group of my friends and I went out for dinner for two of my best friend's 16th birthdays. We decided to go to Frankie & Benny's, the New York Italian Restaurant.

There was so much choice on the menu, I didn't know what to order. In the end I decided to go for a good old traditional spag bol. It was delicious but very filling! For starter I shared a garlic bread with mozzarella.

Happy birthday to these beautiful girls!
After the meal we went back to my friends house for fireworks and sparklers. It was such a lovely idea and the fireworks were beautiful. Although they were a little loud and jumpy, and we still can't find Jerry ;)

It was such a lovely night, I had an amazing time!
I hope Lucy and Hollie enjoyed celebrating their 16th birthday.

I discovered this mascara at London Fashion Weekend and I love it! This drugstore mascara, Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express Cat Eyes, gives amazing volume and amazing length. The product is very easy to apply with a great curved applicator, and it gives your eyes a great dramatic black look.
This is a great drugstore alternative to the Benefit They're Real mascara.

My Weekly Love | Molten Brown Ylang-Ylang

I love this room fragrance from Molten Brown. The aroma is meant to relax and clear your mind, consequently sending you into a deeper and better sleep. My auntie bought me this room fragrance as a gift to help me to relieve stress and to sleep better on the lead up to my exams. Since using the spray I can say I have slept better and found it easier to wake up in the morning, this may be due to the fragrance or the lighter mornings, but either way it makes my room smell gorgeous!

February Favourites

Happy March Everyone!
February has gone so quickly, but I've had so much fun! Below are some of the things I loved last month.

Vita Coco Coconut Oil

This coconut oil is one of the most multi-purpose products I have bought in a long time. The oil can be used as a:
. moisturiser
. hair conditioner
. ingredient in baking, frying and cooking
. bath milk

Benefit Triple Performing Face Emulsion

This has been my favourite face lotion from last month, which I applied every night and morning. It left my skin feeling fresh and smooth.

Benefit Coralista

My absolute favourite blusher! I love the coral colour, and the shimmery highlighting property. The pigmentation is amazing and hopefully the product should last me ages.

Tiffany & Co Necklace

This necklace is very special to me as it was a gift from my auntie, uncle, nan and grandad for my 16th birthday. The black gemstone is so simplistic and beautiful, and I love the dainty chain. I have been wearing this necklace to every time I go out.

Pastel Pink Textured Coat

I love this pastel pink coat from Forever 21, and I have worn it non-stop! In the picture above, I am wearing it at London Fashion Weekend, and I received lots of compliments, which I was very pleased about. One thing I would say about the coat is it's not very warm, so you need to layer up when wearing it, although it will be perfect now as the weather is getting warmer.

Modern Family
I re-found my love for the series Modern Family last month. It is an hilarious comedy which I absolutely love. My TV is always full with recorded episodes that I watch over and over again. My favourite characters are Cam, Mitchel and Gloria, but I love them all!

Kid Ink
I listened to lots of music last month, especially after the Brit Awards! I have been listening to more Ed Sheeran and Royal Blood. Although, my favourite artist this month has been Kid Ink with my favourite songs being Body Language and Hotel.

Black Opium

This perfume was my absolute favourite last month. The smell is divine and it is so long lasting. I love the look of the bottle too with all it's black glitter.

Chai Latte

In the February cold evenings, a mug of chai latte is just what I needed. The sweet, aromatic smells fill the house with beautiful aromas and the taste is so delicious and warming.

Magazine of the Month

Elle
I love Elle Magazine so much! The stories and photos were amazing last month, with such beautiful fashion pages. Elle is not only my favourite magazine last month, but one of my all time favourite magazines.

What were you loving last month?

London Fashion Weekend

Wow, I am so lucky!
Last Saturday I experienced the buzz of London Fashion Weekend!
It was the first time [and hopefully not the last time] I had been to London Fashion Weekend, and I loved every second of it! I was booked in for two catwalks, one Outnet.com trend show and a designer showcase. I was blown away with the gorgeous new items that starred on the catwalk, and the models looked amazing.
